Finals and Winter break

I have two finals down and 1 more final and a presentation to go. Hopefully my grades will be good this semester since two from last spring weren't as good as I would have liked them to be. Only a few good things come from finals week. First, there's no regular class and second, midnight breakfast in the main and free finals food in the dorm. Nothing beats breakfast at night and free food.
Christmas is quickly approaching and I have yet to do any shopping for anyone. I can't figure out what to get everyone. Some people are so easy to buy for and yet others I have no idea what to get them. I don't even know what I really want for Christmas even though that seems to be the thing that people like to ask me. They could get me nothing and I'd be ok with that. One of my favorite things to do during Christmas time is watch Christmas movies like The Grinch(the animated one and the new one), the old claymation Rudolph and Frosty movies, and the Charlie Brown Christmas movie. It's great to watch these movies that remind me of being a kid during Christmas when the only thing you had to do in school was have a party to end the year instead of finals. Well that's all for now...

GOOD LUCK WITH THE REST OF FINALS AND HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE WINTER BREAK!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I'm so excited that Christmas is on the way! It's one of my favorite times of the year. I love seeing all the colorful lights and decorations, getting to decorate the tree, and seeing family and friends! If you live nearby and would like to see something AMAZING-go to the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine and see the ICE exhibit. It's an exhibit of ice sculptures and it's incredible. They keep the exhibit room at around 9 degrees to keep the ice from melting so they give you these huge warm (not to mention attractive) coats. There were scupltures of toys, a snowman, Santa and Mrs. Clause, an angel, and a Nativity scene. They also have 2 slides made out of ice that you can play on! I would definately reccomend checking this out if you have a chance or will be in the area.

Last Weekend

So it seems I have issues remembering to update my blog. But here's a new one for now.
Last weekend was a blast! Friday night I got to go see Dierks Bentley and Cross Canadian Ragweed at the Texas Stampede. They were both amazing. Dierks played first and I had seen him play twice before at Billy Bob's but, he is always fun to watch. I think he's a great musician and it's obvious he loves what he does since he's on tour most of the year. I had never seen Cross Canadian Ragweed in concert before but I had always wanted to. They are great live! If you ever get a chance to see them-do it! I think they'll be at Billy Bob's in December. They played all of my favorites so I wasn't disappointed at all. Our seats were kind of far away-not the nose-bleed section but almost-so thank goodness for the jumbotron thing that hangs from the ceiling! We also got to see the rodeo that was before the concert. It had been a while since I've gone to a rodeo but it was fun too. One of the cowboys hurt a cow doing steer wrestling(I guess that's what you call it) so the cow had to be taken to the vet on a stretcher. My two favorite events in the rodeo are barrel racing and bull or bronco riding. Bull riders have started to wear vests and helmeets and I think that's a great idea because I always get nervous whenever I see them fall off. Saturday night I got to see the Frogs beat up on UNLV. It was LT night so it was pretty exciting to get to see him out on the field too! I'm super happy that we get to go to a bowl game this year too! I probably won't be able to make it out to wherever it is(even though I want to) since it's during Christmas break, but I'll be cheering just as hard from the couch. Well that's all for now-hopefully I can remember to update this more often!

Lubbock

I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I was going to Lubbock to watch and cheer on the guys that are in the soccer club. Well it was last weekend and I had a blast! I should have posted earlier, but sometimes it's hard to find the time. So I'll post about it now-Wednesday night! It took us about 4 1/2 hours to drive there. Personally I hate driving and would much rather fly somewhere but that's because I hate having to sit in a car for that long. Plus the scenery out there isn't very impressive. Although we did pass some pretty cool windmills. We missed the first game but we caught the one the next day. All the guys played great and they tied SFA 1-1. We brought them batman fruit snacks for after the game since they played so well. They were supposed to play another game later that night but the other team forfeited so they automatically won that game and finished the season 8th. After everyone got back to the hotel we all got to hang out together and good times were had. Everyone was so relaxed and everyone was cracking jokes and goofing around. I'm glad that I was able to go because just being able to get to know all the guys better. I love making new friends and getting to know people better. A lot of first impressions I had of some of these guys changed over the weekend and I'm really glad that I got to know them better. There was a point that I was laughing so hard a I started to cry because those guys were so funny and being so silly. Someone left a bra on the doorknob of one of the rooms the guys were staying in and one guy decided he wanted to try it on. He just happened to be one of the biggest guys on the team so this was probably one of the funniest things I'd seen in a long time! A picture of the event is included. We tried to go out dancing too but everywhere in Lubbock was too expensive for people under 21. I had a great time this weekend and I've decided that I definately need to take more road trips because this one was so much fun! I'm so proud of all the guys on the team and I can't wait until we can start cheering for them again in the spring.

Keys to my Heart

So here's what happens when boredom and procrastination combine! My roommate found a quiz that tells you what the keys to your heart are. These are the keys to my heart-I know everyone wants to know what they are!

You are attracted to those who have a split personality - cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart.

In love, you feel the most alive when your partner is patient and never willing to give up on you.

You'd like to your lover to think you are flexible and ready for anything!

You would be forced to break up with someone who was arrogant, acting like the dictator of your life.

Your ideal relationship is comforting. You crave a relationship where you always feel warmth and love.

Your risk of cheating is low. Even if you're tempted, you'd try hard not to do it.

You think of marriage pessimistically. You don't think happy marriages exist anymore.

In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted.

Update

So I don’t know how many of ya’ll have ever taken strengths quest but I had to take it for one of my classes and it’s pretty accurate. One of my top strengths is harmony which means that I don’t like confrontation or conflict. I avoid it and when there is conflict I try to find the middle ground. It’s really been bothering me lately when people seem to bring it with them. I don’t understand why people feel the need to cause trouble or make waves. I don’t know why people feel they need to make a big deal out of EVERYTHING! One of my mottos in life is don’t sweat the small stuff-and some people can’t seem to understand that! Everything is a major problem and nothing is small! I hate it! However, today I got to relieve some of that stress in my Inward Bound class. We got to go to the Botanical Gardens and practice relaxation. It was wonderful!

On another happier note! I saw Elizabethtown last weekend and it was so cute! It was a lot different than I expected it to be but still greatness! This weekend is my roommate’s birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!!! We’re celebrating on Thursday because we are taking a little road trip to Texas Tech to see the club soccer guys play in their tournament! I’m pretty excited about that too! I’m also super excited that November 11th is approaching because that night I get to go see Cross Canadian Ragweed and Dierks Bentley. Next weekend is getting close to Halloween and some friends and I are going to volunteer at Boo at the Zoo. So it should be a good time. I’ve never done it before but I love doing volunteer work and I like being around kids. I think they’re great and they always want to tell you everything. Like today I went to an elementary school for my education class and I was observing a kindergarten class. This little girl just came up to me and started telling me about her bracelet. It was the cutest thing! Well I suppose that’s all to report for now-everybody have a safe, fun weekend!

Club Soccer

So I've decided that I need to dedicate a post to the boys playing club soccer here at TCU because they are having a great season. I just got back from watching the last game of the regular season and they won 1-0. They're record is 6-1-1. Which means they've won six, lost one, and tied one. Now they get to go to a tournament next weekend in Lubbock to compete against other college club soccer teams. There is no TCU men's soccer team because of the title nine agreement that says there must be an equal number of sports for both guys and girls. So men's soccer was taken away. They guys started the club last spring and started signing people up at the activities fair this year. They play other club teams like Abilene Christian, Tarleton, and two UTA teams. So now when they head up to Lubbock they will be playing other teams from all over Texas and Louisiana. Then the two teams that win there will get bids to go to a national tournament. They guys work really well together and are a great team. There isn't a coach so they coach themselves. All the guys are really great players and have something to contribute. They will be playing again in the spring so everyone should definitely come and check them out. They're a lot of fun to watch!
